The deadline for this funding opportunity has been extended to June 7th.

The Sequim Farmers and Artisans Market (SFAM) aims to empower up-and-coming small business owners in achieving their entrepreneurial goals. Starting a small business at the market allows business owners to establish their brand, hone their marketing skills, and get feedback on their product in a low-risk environment. The market presents entrepreneurs with an opportunity to get their product out to the customer base that matters the most: their neighbors and the local community.

SFAM recognizes that the start-up costs in preparing for the market can be challenging. In partnership with The Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship (CIE), SFAM has established The Market-Ready Fund. This Fund aims to reduce some of the financial barriers for BIPOC and LGBTQA+ business owners, in recognition of systemic oppression and inequity.

Early-stage BIPOC & LGBTQA+ entrepreneurs are eligible to receive up to $1,000 in startup funds to launch their small business at Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market. The funds are intended for non-recurring start-up costs including (but not limited to) signage, printing materials, display or storage, on-site cooking equipment, booth tent, etc. Priority will be given to applicants from Clallam County, Jefferson County, or North Kitsap County who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color, or LGBTQA+.

Applicants must intend to vend at SFAM for the full 2021 season and demonstrate that their business idea appears realistic, achievable, and capable of making a meaningful contribution to the applicant’s self-sufficiency income goals. Applicants must commit to working with CIE* to:

  • Attend the Startup Business Course
  • Create a Startup Business Plan
  • Meet with a CIE Business Adviser to complete a Startup Assessment

*All CIE courses and counsel are provided free of charge
