Patrick Loafman is an artist working with hard-shelled gourds. He produces decorative bowls, vases, masks, clocks and even musical instruments, including thumb pianos, rain sticks, drums, rattles and banjos.
His gourds have been shown in galleries and have won awards. Patrick uses a variety of shoe polishes, wood stains and leather dyes to color the gourds.
He is also a wildlife biologist, and, therefore, nature is his main inspiration, decorating gourds with images of frogs, dragonflies and wolves, but he also creates many abstract works.
