Welcome to Sequim, located on washington State's Olympic Peninsula.
Sequim (S'kwim) means quiet waters in the native language of the S'Klallam tribe, a perfect name for this valley community located in the sun between the deep waters of the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the breathtaking Olympic Mountains of Washington state.
What makes Sequim unique and worth a visit? The weather is a major reason! The sun shines here more than anywhere else in western Washington. The "rain shadow", caused by the Olympic Mountains, protects the valley from the rain that falls east and west of Sequim.
Sequim is the center of the North Olympic Peninsula, just minutes from the Victorian Seaport of Port Townsend and Port Angeles, the gateway to Victoria, British Columbia and Olympic National Park. Located adjacent to the Olympic National Forest, Sequim is conveniently situated to be your vacation destination.
Andrew May, nationally renowned horticulturist who now lives on the Olympic Peninsula, believes the Sequim-Dungeness Valley is the perfect location to grow beautiful flowers and bountiful crops.
The temperature is perfect with only an approximate 20 degree variation between night and day. This allows the flower or plant to maintain optimum growing temperature 24 hours per day. It does not experience low temperature shock when the sun goes down.
The growing Valley agri-tourism business provides ample opportunity for the traveler to enjoy our fields of flowers and a variety of raspberries, strawberries, lavender and flower bulbs.
Enjoy celebrating Sequim's rich natural resources every Saturday mid-May through mid-October with us at the Sequim Open Aire Market and also at the annual Irrigation Festival in May, and the Lavender Festival in July.
